My Reading List

This is a list of both what I’ve read recently and what’s on the queue. As I finish each book I like to write up a little something about it.

Programming Collective Intelligence
Toby Segaran

514kM3WcPYL._SL160_.jpgI saw this book posted on O’Reilly’s Radar blog a couple of months ago. As soon as I read the post I pre-ordered the book and eagerly awaited its arrival. I’ve been slowly working through the book, porting the example Python code to Ruby as a way of getting a “hands-on” feel for the information in the book. This book feels like it has the potential to go in personal Geek Book Hall of Fame.

Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X

Aaron Hillegass

I’ve been a “web guy” for the bulk of my career, but I’ve always had fun peeking over the fence to see how the rich-GUI folks live. Once I switched over to a Mac I was intrigued with how Mac applications are put together. I had heard such great things about this book that I figured I’d better look into what all the hub-bub was about. I’m about half-way through and it and I can honestly say that it has been an absolute joy to read. I look forward to each new chapter.

  • Building Scalable Web Sites—Cal Henderson
  • Beautiful Evidence, Visual Explanations, Evisioning Information—Edward Tufte
  • Compilers—Aho, Lam, Sethi & Ullman
  • Programming Erlang—Joe Armstrong
